Honorary Members

Okeanos has a large number of active members. However, some of these members have attained the special status of 'honorary member' due to their exceptional contributions to the association, both in the past and present. An honorary member is appointed by the ALV, often upon nomination by the board. R.S.V.U. 'Okeanos' has had the ability to appoint members as honorary members since 1962, as added in its statutes. Honorary members are exempt from paying dues but still retain voting rights during a general assembly. Honorary membership is typically granted for life. Below is the list of honorary members, sorted by the association year in which they were appointed. 

Members of Merit

In addition to honorary members, Okeanos also acknowledges members of merit. These are members who have made exceptional contributions to the association and thus deserve an 'extra pat on the back'. Since 1988, R.S.V.U. 'Okeanos' has had the ability to appoint members as members of merit. These members are exempt from paying dues but still retain voting rights during a general assembly. A member of merit can be appointed by the ALV after being nominated by either the general assembly or the board. Membership of merit is granted for life.
